iPhone Apps Made Easy

Apple claims that over 3 billion iPhone® apps have been downloaded from the App Store. So you may ask, what does it take to succeed in this fast-growing segment? Waverley answers: perhaps as little as 2 weeks! Waverley Software has brought together an impressive team of globally sourced mobile computing software developers and managers, combined with Silicon Valley based project management and a twenty-year record of software success.

We begin with your idea. We’ve already helped bring a dozen top selling and top rated iPhone apps to market, so, we are ready, willing and able to support you from the very start of your project. We will ask the right questions and help you lay the groundwork for a speedy transition from idea to development, from builds to beta, from submission to store.

App Expertise

More than most software, iPhone apps are built quickly, with extremely fast time-to-market. As a result, app development is dynamic. The development process must be fluid and flexible, able to respond to changing marketing conditions. Whether consumer oriented or B2B, app development doesn’t end with delivery to the app store, successful apps require frequent maintenance and updates.

Many clients are new to app development. Waverley offers expertise in every aspect of app design and development. Waverley can lead you through every aspect of the process. Our software experts provide invaluable feedback at every step in the process. With our experience in this fast-moving segment, Waverley knows how to get maximal results in minimal time.

Five Steps to Successful Apps

  1. Establish Functional Requirements. Great apps require great planning. Waverley will assign a technical lead and a client manager with extensive iPhone experience to work with you on your product ideas and functional requirements. Throughout this stage, you can expect daily meetings of 30–40 minutes, to go over progress and questions that came up in the last 24 hours (as compared to weekly meetings). Waverley will help you describe your app, generating multiple iterations until we have a clear, actionable vision of the software’s functional requirements. We’ll help you develop and explore product details and create your testing plan.

  2. Begin Development. Once we all agree on what you want to create, we begin development. We’ll create the user stories and backlog, prioritize features and create estimates. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential to avoid production delays for a development cycle that is only weeks long. Working with Waverley’s Silicon Valley based managers is one of the ways Waverley helps you succeed. Each app in development will have 1 or 2 software engineers assigned from beginning to end.

  3. Following Waverley’s highly agile and flexible software development process, we will initially be delivering builds every 4–5 days. By mid-stage in the process, builds will typically occur every 2–3 days. Waverley project management will be available for daily meetings, ensuring that there are no “nasty surprises.” How long does all this take? The average development time is 1½ months from approved functional requirements to submission. We’ve developed apps in as little as 2 weeks—and have never taken more than a few months to go from idea to app submission.

  4. Submit your completed app to Apple. Approval can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month or longer. Waverley will be with you, helping you answer any questions, and when Apple requests changes, making quick revisions of your app.

  5. Ongoing support and maintenance: Successful apps are regularly updated. New features are added, revisions are made to be compatible with next generation operating systems, revisions are often necessary as a competitive response. Waverley helps you keep your app current.

A Better Path to Better Apps

Our experience has taught us that there are glitches in the Software Development Kit (SDK) that can wreak havoc for the inexperienced app developer. Waverley knows how to take full advantage of the SDK’s range of options, sophisticated features and functionality.

Waverley prides itself on our commitment to providing a more professional development experience than is common in the industry. We understand that there is no substitute for experienced programmers, engineers, and managers who understand your needs and objectives—as well as the ins and outs of app development.
